November 14, Monday
Workout – I’m very tired today. I don’t feel like going to CF. I feel slightly burned out, but that could just be the time of the month. I just renewed my membership for another 3 months, but I’m doing 12x a month instead of unlimited due to my remaining vacation days I would need to take before the year is over. I have to say, this Nutrition Challenge is really taking a toll on my body. I didn’t realize how much until my period was way late (for me anyway). It was nearly 5 days late! That never happens to me. I was once 3 days late before, but never again. I was worried that it wouldn’t come. It felt like it was coming over 7 days ago, but day after day, nothing came. I’m just glad it finally came. I hope I’m not damaging my body due to this challenge. I’m getting really antsy from this Nutrition Challenge. I can’t wait until it’s finally over. It’s been 37 days now & only 7 more to go. I want to eat tons of the bad foods I’ve been wanting (i.e chips, donuts, bread, pasta, etc). As you can tell, I’m definitely not losing weight on this one. I definitely can’t keep up w/ this diet, but it makes me think outside for the box when it comes to creating foods & I will try my hardest to be better w/ everything I put into my body.
WOD –500m Row, 21-15-9 Burpee Box Jump, 2-for-1 Reverse Lunges, 500m Row. My Results: 15:22 minutes.
I was feeling really unmotivated today, but I still went into CF anyway because I should. We did Overhead Squats first, but the 22lb bar was making my shoulder hurt, so I stopped. I just stretched out & practiced w/ the PVC pipe instead. I really don’t want to aggravate it anymore than I already have. I was sluggish & slow today. I was the slowest one w/ the rowing, then I was nearly crawling when I did the burpees box jump. I was in slow motion today. The only saving grace for me was the Reverse Lunges which went fairly quickly. I didn’t finish last, but I know I could have done better if I had more sleep & if I had something to eat before the WOD. I did 40 Reverse Hypers afterwards to stretch myself out a little bit w/ weights.

Crossfit Day 63, Nutrition Challenge Day 2
Workout – I was able to make some food for the week last night, so I don’t need to survive on just salad. I made pork chops w/ apples, pomelo balasamic dressing & pomelo salad. I feel much more satisfied now w/ my lunch & I don’t feel overly hungry like I did yesterday. I hope I can continue this for the next 43 days!
WOD – 5 Rounds 15 V-ups, 10 Burpees for Time. My Results: 7:29 minutes.
We started w/ Back Squats 5-4-3-2-1 (aim for 1RM). I did them w/ DD & H. I ended up w/ 95-105-115-125-135lb. That’s my personal best thus far! I tried 145 w/ T spotting me, but my legs wouldn’t get up from the squat. Haha I’m still happy w/ the results. The WOD went ok. The V-ups going really difficult after awhile & the burpees plain stinks, but I got through it. I did 3x20 Reverse Hypers afterwards, along w/ 40 GHD Sit-ups for fun.

Crossfit Day 59
October 5, Wednesday
Workout – I’m looking forward to tonight’s WOD since it’s a lot of running. I feel like I can run longer & faster than I’ve done before, so we’ll see how it turns out.
WOD – "Abbate" 1 mile run (9:33min), 21 Cleans & Jerks (155/115 33), 800m run, 21 Cleans & Jerks, 1 mile run (9:40min) for Time. My Results: 31:43 minutes.
Since it’s fall, by the time we start the WOD (a little after 6:45pm), it’s completely dark outside already. I was afraid I’d walk into a small pothole or step on large rocks in the parking lot of CF, so I was a little more careful when I was running. D bought a headlamp to use outside but she didn’t end up using it, but it’s highly useful. I actually bought it off of her & she’ll pick up another one. I can wrap it around my waist instead of my forehead, although I did put it on my forehead just for kicks. I felt like a Minion from the cartoon movie “Despicable Me.” Haha I was behind the 3 guys & D at the start of the WOD, which was fine w/ me. I wanted to pace myself w/ my run. Mich & L were behind me. I did my fastest mile that I know of coming in at 9:33 minutes! I was pretty stoked about it since our mile at CF is slightly more than a regular mile & part of it is uphill. I want to see if I can do an 8 or 9 minute mile in the future. I went w/ a lower weight for the cleans & jerks because when we were practicing, the 43lb was too heavy for me. I am ok w/ a lower weight because I want to keep practice proper form & really getting the bar overhead when I do the push jerks. By the time I was on my last mile, I was actually not ahead of one of the guys & I stayed ahead. I was behind Mich but I passed by her. So I finished 3rd next to the 2 guys. Not too bad. L was struggling w/ the running so she was still outside when everyone was finished, so D & I went out to look for her & to encourage her. D ended up running an extra ½ mile while I ran an extra ¼ mile. We were trying to motivate L since she is pretty new to our CF & we didn’t want to leave her outside in the dark by herself. I practiced some Reverse Hypers afterwards w/ the guidance of A the trainer so I now know how far my legs should go. It’s a pretty good machine but I can imagine it getting tough when you actually add weight to it.

Start of Month 3 - Crossfit Day 43
September 12, Monday
Workout – I am tired today. I haven’t been sleeping well because I’ve been going to bed late reading “Snow Flower & the Secret Fan.” I know I should get more rest so that I can do work & work-out more efficiently, but I am weak when it comes to reading a good book. I am dreading today’s WOD because it requires 1000m row & I am absolutely horrible at rowing. I’ll just have to do my best.
WOD – 1000m Row, 50 DB Thrusters (45/30), 40 Pull-Ups (blue & purple band), 30 Burpees for Time. My Results: 19:58 minutes.
We started off doing Overhead Squats. I stayed w/ the 22lb bar because any heavier & my knees start to turn in & my upper body doesn’t cooperate. I was able to do more than I have ever done before. My upper body still needs to get stronger, but I am slowly getting there. There were 10 ppl tonight so we split into 2 groups. I was in the 1st group w/ 6 girls. The trainer actually showed me what I was doing wrong at the beginning of the row so I kept trying to use what he showed me & I felt like I didn’t fatigue as much as I did before. I have to extend my arms out & then bring it back in before my knees go back in. I will have to keep practicing. I was the last girl to finish the rows. But I still finished them in a little over 5 minutes so that’s still good for me. The DB thrusters weren’t too bad after the first 25, but then it got heavy & tiring. I rested after 3-5 repetitions so that I could finish. I was the 1st to finish those, then onto the pull-up bar. I was able to do 4-5 at first, & then it dwindled down to 1-2. The last 11 took me a long time to finish. I did one, & then had to rest. Lastly were the burpees. I sure do hate them. I did them slow & steady & was able to do 15, then I was tired & things went slower from there. I was crawling part of the way, but I kept my eye on the clock. I wanted to finish them before 20 minutes & I was able to do that! Haha It’s the little things that matter to me. Afterwards, we did 3x15 Reverse Hypers. I did 3 sets of 10s, then 1 set of 15s. They were tough & require you to use your butt & hip muscles. It’s a new machine so I’m sure w/ time & practice, they will be easier to do.

Crossfit Day 40
September 6, Tuesday
Workout – I feel like a lard @ss after eating so much in Canada. I’m hoping I can do the WOD for today. It’s also been raining since Monday so I’m scared the roads will be flooded again so I’ll take the long way there.
WOD – 3 Rounds 500m Row, 40 Push-Ups, 30 V-Ups, 20 Ring Dips, 10 Toes to Bar for Time. My Results: 29:19 minutes.
I came in 15 minutes late due to the rain & people can’t seem to drive when it’s raining. It’s so frustrating. I hate hate hate being late. And of course, T had to see me late for the 3rd time. I had to skip the back squats that everyone did before the WOD. So there were 13 people today & only 6 rowing machines. They did 3 groups. I was in group 3 which was ONLY ME! *sigh* That’s what I get for getting there late. I had to wait 5:30 minutes before I started rowing. *double sigh* It wasn’t too bad because when Round 2 came around, a lot of the people had to wait for others to finish rowing, while I had no wait at all. I continued through the WOD & I caught up to some of the people in the 1st group. I actually finished faster than a lot of the girls, so that felt pretty good.
I did my Back Squat after the WOD. We had to do 8-8-8-8 starting @ 70% of 1RM. I did 45-55-65-75lb. 8 repetitions gets pretty tough so I was glad I did the weight that I did. My 1RM is 105lb, so 70% is just about 75lb. There’s a new machine at CF called the Reverse Hyper. I had A (another trainer) show me how to use it. It was pretty tough even w/o any weight on it & it’s not something that’s made for a small woman, but it was cool trying it out. It stretches your back & works your glutes.
